Winchmore Hill is probably our most favourite area of Enfield. It is nicely tucked in the North part of the capital, where large part of the hustle and bustle is lost. And yet, Winchmore Hill Green is a vibrant and colourful place with its own charm. I mean, who hasn’t heard of Broad Walk – a playground for the rich and famous, with properties that rival those of the other exclusive London areas?
Aside from expensive properties, the place also has a great number of restaurants and shops. It is that particulate area my family and I are quite interested in. We even have a favourite place there – the Samdan Meze & Grill Turkish restaurant.
It is quite notable how in recent years a very large number of Turkish restaurants and cafes have popped in pretty much every London area. I am not accustomed to their tradition and way of eating, but I cannot forget to mention that in almost every single one of these places you are served a free starter and a free dessert. Could it be competition that is driving this? Regardless, it is quite a compliment, which often leaves you full before you have even had the chance to try out the main course!
For Samdan the case is different. The place relies on a lot of other things than free starters. In fact, they offer only a minor starter with Pita bread and tapenade. It is a lovely compliment, which leaves enough place for everything else they offer – which is a lot and quite tasty!
The food is always flawless, just like service we get. We often have invited friends with us and all of them agree that the service in the restaurant is impeccable. The staff is always so friendly and welcoming, takes orders quickly and never makes any mistake.
The interior of the restaurant is not far behind on the factors that make us come back again and again. It makes you feel comfortable and relaxed. There is authentic décor to make the atmosphere even better. The music they play on the background is usually different, but on this day they had a nice tango theme going on.
I would like to mention only a single flaw I noticed was the restrooms. There is some bathroom inventory there that is broken and should be replaced. After all, the rest of the interior looks great and such should be the case in the restrooms. I also think the place needs proper scrubbing with a professional detergent. Otherwise everything is good.
Samdan is definitely the place to visit, for everyone that hasn’t done so yet. It is an experience that has the potential to take you to the Orient for a while and return you to London only after you exit the restaurant. It is worth it!
